Welcome to Our Group Poetry Effort

In our Mt Pleasant meeting we decided to create a blog and allow each of the members to be authors. An initial project was suggested to be a group poetry writing exercise: one person would suggest a subject, prompt or as Mary suggested a first line from a famous poem and others would each contribute a line (verse) or stanza.

I nominate Robert Frost's famous "The Road Not Taken":
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

I suggest rather than copying the first line we emulate the style and tone with something like :

A winding country road diverged in placid plains

Rod's addition:

When I come to the fork in the road
Spying the spoon and knife in the gutter
curiosity pulls me sideways
and I never reach home
in time for dinner
